Having contractor workers throughout the year is excellent for small businesses until tax time rolls around and W-9 forms are missing, outdated or lost in a sea of paperwork. Suddenly, the race is on to get everything together in time to meet IRS deadlines for 1099 delivery.
To help make this easier, QuickBooks® Online now includes the option for users to invite contractors to fill out their W-9s and sign them electronically, securely inside an Intuit® account. After the contractor follows a few steps, their completed W-9 form is available inside QuickBooks Online. No more chasing after paperwork!
Note: A contractor in QuickBooks Online is a Vendor marked “Track for 1099.” They will show on the vendor list (located under expenses) and contractor list (located under workers). You can add the contact through either list, but it’s best to do so in workers tab for this new feature.
Here’s how it works:
